Coastal Surveillance Force
The U.S. Navy’s Coastal Surveillance Force (Task Force 115) intercepted and inspected costal traffic bound for South Vietnam in order to cut the flow of Communist supplies. The Force’s Swift Boats (Patrol Craft Fast) were also used to rescue down airmen and provided mortar fire support to troops ashore.
