UITG

The U.S. Army Vietnam Individual Training Group

UITG was established in February 1971 to train and equip FANK (Forces Armées Nationales Khmères) troops to better fight the NVA and Khmer Communist insurgents threatening Cambodia. As a result of legislative restrictions (Cooper-Church amendment) that prohibited funds being used for U.S. troops or advisors in Cambodia the training was conducted at camps in South Vietnam.

The majority of UITG personnel were U.S. Army Special Forces, but members of the New Zealand Army Training Group (NZATG) and Australian Army Training Team Vietnam (AATTV) were also employed.

UITG was re-designated FANK Training Command on 15th May 1972 and remained active until 14th December 1972.
