FANK
Following the ousting of King Norodom Sihanouk by General Lon Nol in 1970 the Force Armée Royale Khmère (FARK) was renamed Forces Armées Nationales Khmères (FANK). Assisted by the U.S., FANK battled against the North Vietnamese Army and Cambodian Communist insurgents for five years until the Republic finally fell to the Khmer Rouge in April 1975.
