PLAF

People's Liberation Armed Forces - Commonly known as the Viet Cong, the PLAF was the military arm of the National Liberation Front. The Viet Cong consisted of main force troops (regulars) that engaged in full-scale combat, guerrillas (irregulars) that specialized in hit and run attacks as well as political cadre and support personnel. Nicknamed Charlie (VC – Victor Charlie) by U.S. troops, VC combatants typically wore black peasant pyjamas and sandals made from discarded truck tires. The Viet Cong were strongest in the southern third of South Vietnam, however their military capabilities were decimated during the 1968 Tet Offensive.
