VPA
The Vietnam People’s Army was formed under General Vo Nguyen Giap in December 1944. During the first Indochina war the VPA was synonymous with the Viet Minh. The U.S. often referred to the VPA as the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) or People’s Army of Vietnam (PAVN) during the Vietnam War.
