Located on a mountain summit 10 miles inside southern Laos, the Leghorn (GOLF-5) Radio Site relayed messages between Recon Teams in Laos and SOG bases in South Vietnam.

It was opened on 15th January 1967 by a Recon Team led by 1st Lt. George Sisler and was occupied for five years. Leghorn, which also proved a perfect spot for NSA radio interception equipment, was never overrun during that time, though it suffered occasional enemy motor attacks.
