Designed as part of the
utility uniform
, the eight-pointed Marine Corps cover was made from herringbone twill (HBT) until approximately 1959 and from cotton sateen thereafter. The cap had two small ventilation eyelets on each side and was produced both with and without the Eagle, Globe and Anchor (EGA) insignia.
