The cotton duck M1943 intrenching shovel carrier was first standardized in September 1943 and was designed for carrying the folding M1943 intrenching shovel. The flap was closed with a lift-the-dot fastener and the carrier's sides were reinforced with eight rivets. The 1943 version of the carrier was the only one to have a fixed position double hook attachment, as from January 1944 the hook's position was adjustable.
